Terms & Conditions
Understand the rules, responsibilities, and terms governing the use of SplitPocket.
Last updated: August 19, 2026
These Terms and Conditions form a binding agreement between you and SplitPocket Technologies Limited ("SplitPocket," "we," "us," or "our"). SplitPocket operates a platform that connects people who want to share the cost of a subscription. By creating an account or using our platform in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use SplitPocket.
You can reach us at support@getsplitpocket.com or at our registered address, Block 4, Dunvale Cluster C, Coleman Nwafor Street, Orchid Road, Lekki, Eti-Osa, Lagos.
1. Who Can Use SplitPocket
You must be at least 18 years old to use SplitPocket. You must also be able to enter into a binding agreement under Nigerian law. If we find that you gave us false information about your age or identity, we can suspend or close your account.
2. Key Terms Used In These Terms
A few words come up often in this document, so here is what they mean:
- Host: a person who lists a spare seat on a subscription they already pay for.
- Member: a person who pays to join a spot on a host's subscription.
- Pocket: a shared subscription listed by a host that members can join.
- Cycle: the period from when a member joins a pocket to when that subscription renews.
- Escrow: the way we hold a member's payment until the cycle ends and renewal is confirmed, before releasing funds to the host.
3. What SplitPocket Is And Is Not
SplitPocket is a marketplace. We connect hosts and members and hold payments safely until a cycle is confirmed. We do not own, run, or control the subscriptions listed on our platform. The subscription service itself is provided by whichever company the host already subscribes to, not by SplitPocket.
Your agreement to share a subscription is between you and the host. Your protection as a member comes from our Buyer Protection Program, which explains what happens if something goes wrong.
4. Your Responsibilities As A Host
If you host a pocket on SplitPocket, you agree to:
- Give accurate information about the subscription you are sharing, including plan type and number of seats.
- Give members working access within the time you promised.
- Keep your subscription active and pay for it as normal for the length of the cycle.
- Follow our listing rules, which may restrict certain subscription types from being listed.
5. Your Responsibilities As A Member
If you join a pocket as a member, you agree to:
- Pay for your seat only through SplitPocket, not directly to the host.
- Use the access you are given as intended.
- Keep the host's login details and access within your own pocket, and not share them with anyone outside it.
- Report any problems with your access through SplitPocket, rather than settling it directly with the host outside our platform.
6. Fees And Payments
When you join a pocket, SplitPocket charges a service fee on top of the seat price. This fee is currently 8% of the listed seat price. Your payment is held safely and only released to the host once the cycle is confirmed to have renewed. This process, along with what happens if a cycle does not renew properly, is explained fully in our Buyer Protection Program.
If you withdraw money from your SplitPocket wallet, a small withdrawal fee applies based on the amount you withdraw. Withdrawals of ten thousand naira or more also carry a fifty naira government stamp duty, which is shown separately from our own fees. There is no minimum withdrawal amount.
We may change our fees from time to time. If we do, we will let you know before the change takes effect.
7. Refunds And Protection
Our Buyer Protection Program explains when you can get a refund, how to file a claim, and what happens after a claim is approved. Please read it alongside these Terms, since it forms part of your agreement with us.
8. Messaging On SplitPocket
Hosts and members can talk to each other through SplitPocket. Please keep your messages on our platform rather than moving to outside apps, since this is what allows us to protect you if something goes wrong. When you send a message on SplitPocket, you agree not to use it to harass or mislead another person, or to share illegal or harmful content.
9. Things You Cannot Do On SplitPocket
You agree not to:
- Pay a host or accept payment from a member outside of SplitPocket.
- List a subscription you do not have the right to share, or give false information about a listing.
- Share a host's access details outside your pocket.
- Use the platform for fraud, money laundering, or any other illegal purpose.
- Try to access another person's account, or use bots and scrapers on our platform.
- Copy, resell, or reverse engineer any part of the SplitPocket platform.
We may investigate any of these activities and take action, including suspending or closing your account and reporting illegal activity to the appropriate authorities. Our AML/KYC Policy also applies to your use of SplitPocket, especially regarding identity checks and fraud prevention.
10. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. If you believe someone else has accessed your account, let us know right away. We can suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, provide false information, or use the platform in a way that puts other users at risk. If we close your account, we will still pay out any amount already confirmed as yours, minus any fees you already owe.
11. Changes To These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a change, we will update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using SplitPocket after a change is posted, that means you accept the update. We recommend checking this page from time to time.
12. Intellectual Property
Everything on SplitPocket, including our name, logo, design, and the software behind the platform, belongs to SplitPocket Technologies Limited or our licensors. You can use SplitPocket for your own personal use, but you cannot copy, resell, or build on any part of it without our written permission.
13. Disclaimer
SplitPocket connects hosts and members, but we do not control how a host manages their underlying subscription beyond what our Buyer Protection Program covers. We provide the platform as is. We cannot promise it will always work without interruption, and we are not responsible for problems caused by the subscription provider itself, only for the protections we outline in our Buyer Protection Program.
14. Limits On Our Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by Nigerian law, SplitPocket is not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profit or missed opportunities, that come from using our platform. Our total responsibility to you for any claim will never be more than the amount you paid us in the three months before the issue happened.
15. Disputes
If a disagreement comes up between you and SplitPocket, please contact us first so we can try to sort it out directly. If we cannot resolve it that way, the dispute will be handled by the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria, and Nigerian law will apply.
16. General
This document, along with our Privacy Policy, Buyer Protection Program, and AML/KYC Policy, makes up the full agreement between you and SplitPocket. If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, the rest will still apply. Our not enforcing a rule one time does not mean we give up the right to enforce it later. Using SplitPocket does not make you our employee, partner, or agent.
